A world première: VDE-tested Stubby screwdriver measuring just over 10 cm in length ensures safe work practices
Schonach, Germany January 2017 – Electricians in trade and industry are all too familiar with the problem: they often require a very small, short hand tool in cramped worked environments while working or fastening screws on machines or in places such as switch cabinets. Complete safety is the top priority in electrical engineering. Hand tools used in such situations thus need to be both short and safe. Wiha now introduces the world's first VDE-certified screwdriver solution of its size in the shape of a Stubby bit holder handle for slimBits, also individually tested at 10,000 V AC. With an overall length of just over 10 cm, it ensures complete safety for screw fastening tasks when working in confined spaces.
Also known by its full, correct name the SoftFinish® electric slimVario Stubby, the Wiha Stubby VDE consists of two components: the short bit holder handle (SoftFinish® electric slimVario Stubby) and a set of three Wiha slimBits. With the inserted slimBit, this compact screwdriver measures a mere 105 mm in length overall. In its VDE-certified, protection-insulated version, this fastening tool is currently unparalleled in size or length on the market.
Christian Hilbert, Wiha Segment Manager explains: "We are pleased to present users with a solution that offers a true advantage and added value: the Stubby VDE. It is short enough for special tasks in extremely tight spaces, yet is also completely safe thanks to its protective insulation. This is exactly what users wanted, as clearly indicated by our work on the market and our long, exhaustive user surveys. Virtually a true gap in the market. In the future, there will be no need for self-created solutions which often compromise safety."
The Wiha slimBit system is fully compatible and extends the range of application fields that the Wiha slimFamily is able to cover.
