Light + Building 2024: Wiha presented a “strong” innovation and a Designplus Award winner at Frankfurt

“STRONG AND BRIGHT” was the motto of Wiha at this year's Light + Building trade fair in Frankfurt. The German hand tool manufacturer surprised visitors with a new product of its e-screwdriver family with stronger rotation power and a larger application range: The speedE® PocketDrive. The product innovations of 2023, such as the Wiha tool backpack were also included in the presentation. Wiha was especially pleased by the fact that immediately on the first day of the fair, this backpack received the prestigious Designplus Award by Light + Building in the category Sustainability + Efficiency PLUS.

Wiha introduced the PocketDrive as a new "one-in-all” member of its e-screwdriver family. It can be used for a very large range of applications. With the functional combination of a quick and power-saving electrical drive with automatic material protection stop function (1 Nm or 5 Nm), coupled with the option of also using it as a fully-fledged manual screwdriver, its application options are more varied than ever before. Whether delicate or powerful fastening, for use on fixation tasks in shell construction, work on cable channels or wood screw connections – the multi-faceted tool can be used for a wide range of applications. The enclosed bit box in combination with the magnetic bit holder offers a selection of 30 bits, i.e. maximum flexibility for all types of application areas. Delivery to the retailers and the official start of all communication activities will begin in mid-April.

At its presentation at the Frankfurt fair the Wiha tool backpack with two content variations was also met with great interest. In the year of its introduction in 2023 it already received four product design awards. Inside, it offers plenty of storage space for additional equipment. A separate back compartment allows users to store their laptop or documents separate from the tools. Valuables or sensitive instruments can be kept in specially protected compartments. The cleverly conceived compartment system makes removing and returning tools clearly structured and extremely easy. Via the quick access option, it is even possible with 1/3 opening of the backpack. A total of 77 storage and 30 flexible attachment options ensure maximum freedom for individual content. With its stable and water-proof base tray, the backpack has a firm and non-tilting stand even when open.

According to Wiha, there was great interest among visitors on all days of the fair. The great interest of the visitors and their enthusiasm regarding the latest Wiha developments confirmed that they are presenting the right solution at the right time to the electrical sector, as marketing manager Sven Wilde was pleased to note. “It is always exciting and interesting to receive and discuss the feedback, questions and even brand new ideas from visitors on trade fair days such as in Frankfurt. For example, the fact that our fair team included two professional electricians was received very positively. This allowed us to answer even very specific sector questions and concerns of the visitors by contact persons who had direct practical experience. This is exactly our aim – to interact at eye level with other professionals, define challenges and needs and generate genuinely helpful products for everyday use,” explained marketing manager Sven Wilde.

A special interactive trade fair experience was provided by the “Swing corner at the heights of the Black Forest”, where visitors could have their picture taken with Wiha tools via smartphone and send social media greetings from the Wiha fair stand via a live post.
